Lauren graduated from college and was trying to decide what she wanted to do next. Lauren asked Dr. Bruner if she could come and shadow him in his orthodontic office. So Dr. Bruner invited Lauren to the office where they spent some hours seeing patients and talking about orthodontics. They went to lunch and talked the about the possibilities of a career in dentistry. It wasn’t long before Lauren started working in the office as a Bruner Orthodontic team member.

New to the orthodontic world, Lauren quickly learned about orthodontics and dentistry. More than just technical things, Lauren learned about providing first-class customer service and honed her communication skills. Lauren mastered her role as scheduling coordinator. Soon, Lauren had taken over as our financial coordinator. She managed all of the accounts receivable for our growing orthodontic practice. Lauren was really enjoying orthodontics and she began getting ready to apply for admission to dental school. 

When it was time to launch Lauren into dental school, Dr. Bruner and the rest of our team could not have been more proud of her. The friendship they began at Bruner Orthodontics had grown into a meaningful, lifelong friendship. Lauren got married last summer between her first and second years of marriage. Dr. Helgen has had extensive training making her an expert in her specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. She provides comprehensive orthodontic care with braces and invisalign and loves treating patients of all ages.

Dr. Helgen was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and graduated from Bellevue High School. An avid Husky fan since birth, she attended the University of Washington, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She then decided to pursue her dental education on the East Coast, attending the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, in Philadelphia. With a passion for orthodontics from an early age, Dr. Helgen was thrilled to be selected for specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Helgen has always enjoyed giving back to the community. During dental school, she planned several blood drives, health fairs, and multiple fundraisers for various charities. She also regularly provided dental screenings and oral health education for homeless women and children in the Philadelphia area throughout dental school and her orthodontic residency.

Dr. Helgen is passionate about orthodontics and is committed to providing the best care possible for her patients. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Washington State Dental Association, Washington State Society of Orthodontists, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. Dr. Helgen is actively involved in continuing education. Dr. Lindsey Helgen and Dr. Matthew Bruner work together to diagnose and treat all of their patients. In this way they have double the diagnosing expertise, more available chair time for their patients, and can provide outstanding care for all of their patients at every appointment.

When Dr. Helgen is not delivering smiles at Bruner Orthodontics or Duvall Orthodontics she enjoys traveling, skiing, running, and spending time with her fiance Steve and her family.

Dr. Bruner has been providing high caliber comprehensive orthodontic care since 2002. He attended Loma Linda University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998.  After serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a general dentist and flight surgeon for the 25^th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Dr. Bruner left general dentistry in order to become a specialist in orthodontics.  Dr. Bruner graduated with his Masters Degree and specialty certificate in orthodontics from the University of Louisville.  After completing his last tour of duty where he served as the Chief of Orthodontics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, Major Bruner and his family returned home to Redmond, Washington.

In July of 2007, Dr. Bruner purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. Stanley Gile, who happened to be Dr. Bruner’s childhood orthodontist.  The practice remains singularly focused on providing outstanding, compassionate care in a fun and family friendly environment.  The office is committed to using the latest, most technologically advanced and efficient treatment materials available today to make your treatment as fast and comfortable as possible.

Dr. Bruner is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Hawaiian Society of Orthodontists and the Washington State Society of Orthodontists.  Dr. Bruner also served as a member of the recognized cleft lip and palate team in Hawaii and as a mentor in two ADA accredited residency training programs.

Dr. Bruner’s commitment to providing his patients with the most outstanding care available is evidenced by the fact that he has earned his board certification in orthodontics. This means that his skills are recognized by a board of his peers, making him a Diplomate, by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Bruner and his wife Kathryn have been married for 19 years.  They have three kids, Chaz, Hannah and Malia and enjoy living in Redmond. Dr. Bruner is actively involved in his church, coach’s baseball, loves sports and music and enjoys spending time with his family.  He is also passionate about orthodontics and loves to take care of his patients.
