Dr. Bruner Gives Mouthguards to the Bruner Orthodontic Athletes

Last week, some of our Bruner Orthodontics athletes stopped by the office to receive their free custom fitted mouthguard from Dr. Bruner. One of our mission statements here at Bruner Orthodontics is to build lasting relationships with our patients and their families. One of the ways Dr. Bruner and the Bruner Orthodontics staff do this is by giving back to the communities in which we live and work.

If your child is participating sports, especially sports where the potential to be hit by a ball or another player is present, a mouthguard should be considered a necessary piece of equipment. According to the American Dental Association, about 10 to 20% of all sports-related injuries involve the mouth or face. We like to help our patients avoid injury whenever possible. Great Turnout For Our 5th Annual RDH Lecture!!

Our 5th Annual RDH (registered Dental Hygienist) Lecture was fun and educational too! Thank you to everyone for coming out and sharing a great night of continuing education.

Dr. Bruner and the team at Bruner Orthodontics value working with our local dental professionals. Our annual lecture was packed with the best dental hygienists that are providing the best care to their patients and constantly trying to learn more about dentistry. Dr. Matt Bruner and Dr. Lindsey Helgen lectured on the evolution of orthodontics for quality results and compared contemporary practices using the Damon System and Invisalign. Esteemed members of the Bruner Orthodontic Team and the Duvall Orthodontic Team were present too. We had a wonderful evening of camaraderie, good fun and great continuing education. The venue was at Matt’s Rotisserie in Redmond and the turn out was excellent! Thank you all for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Happy Mother's Day!

All of us at Bruner Orthodontics want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day! We appreciate what moms do each and every day. We know that that you work hard to provide the very best of everything to your kids in all facets of their lives. That’s why we are so honored and grateful that you would choose Bruner Orthodontics to take care of your family’s orthodontic treatment needs.

One of our core values is building real and lasting relationships. Getting to know and love our patients is one of the best parts of our job. We learn a lot from you each day. We often take the opportunity to try and teach our younger patients things too. We want to live out an attitude of gratitude and teach our kids to be thankful for what they have. Over the past couple of months we have been running our Annual Mother’s Day Card Contest.

We asked each of our patients to write a postcard to their mother, telling them why they are so great, and thanking them for what they do. We mailed all of them out and we hope you enjoyed them!

We randomly selected one postcard from several hundred entries and that lucky patient one dinner and movie — possibly a date night if you can convince Dr. Bruner to do the babysitting your evening may be complete! Here is our winner Logan M. receiving her prize!

We love our Bruner Orthodontic patients. We work hard to complete treatment on time with excellence. That’s why we need more patients, because we complete treatment everyday!! Giving Back to our Community

At Bruner Orthodontics, giving back and being involved in our local community is of high importance to us. Part of our mission statement is to build lasting relationships with our patients and their families. Dr. Bruner sticks by this statement by constantly looking for ways to be involved in his patients lives.

For the 2nd year in a row, we bought 200 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to support one of our local troops! We delivered these cookies to local dentists in the area that we work with. Yum! We believe in the great things that the Girl Scouts do and what they stand for. Keep your eyes out for more neat things that we do for our patients as the year goes on!

Matthew K. Bruner, DDS, MS, is a board certified Orthodontist in Redmond, Washington. Dr. Bruner and Bruner Orthodontics uses the Damon system and provides treatment for children and adults including limited orthodontic treatment, comprehensive orthodontic treatment, orthodontics in conjunction with orthognathic surgery, and Invisalign.

Dr. Bruner has been providing high caliber comprehensive orthodontic care since 2002. He attended Loma Linda University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998. After serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a general dentist and flight surgeon for the 25^th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Dr. Bruner left general dentistry in order to become a specialist in orthodontics. Dr. Bruner graduated with his Masters Degree and specialty certificate in orthodontics from the University of Louisville. After completing his last tour of duty where he served as the Chief of Orthodontics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, Major Bruner and his family returned home to Redmond, Washington.

In July of 2007, Dr. Bruner purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. Stanley Gile, who happened to be Dr. Bruner’s childhood orthodontist. The practice remains singularly focused on providing outstanding, compassionate care in a fun and family friendly environment. The office is committed to using the latest, most technologically advanced and efficient treatment materials available today to make your treatment as fast and comfortable as possible.

Dr. Bruner is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Hawaiian Society of Orthodontists and the Washington State Society of Orthodontists. Dr. Bruner also served as a member of the recognized cleft lip and palate team in Hawaii and as a mentor in two ADA accredited residency training programs.

Dr. Bruner’s commitment to providing his patients with the most outstanding care available is evidenced by the fact that he has earned his board certification in orthodontics. This means that his skills are recognized by a board of his peers, making him a Diplomate, by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Bruner and his wife Kathryn have been married for 19 years. They have three kids, Chaz, Hannah and Malia and enjoy living in Redmond. Dr. Bruner is actively involved in his church, coach’s baseball, loves sports and music and enjoys spending time with his family. He is also passionate about orthodontics and loves to take care of his patients.

Thanks to All Participated in the 2012 Halloween Candy Give-Back

This Halloween marked the time for our Annual Candy Give-Back here at Bruner Orthodontics! After trick-or-treating, our patients brought their Halloween candy to our office and had it weighed. Every pound that was brought equaled one entry into our drawing for dinner and movie for four! This year we collected 75 POUNDS OF HALLOWEEN CANDY. All the candy collected will be donated to a local charity. At our office we love doing fun things like this to encourage our patients to make healthy life choices. Our winner was selected at random and this year, Cassi B. won dinner at Red Robin and movie tickets for four! We would like to say a special thanks to everyone who participated and we hope you and your family enjoy the Holiday Season!

Healthy Mouths, Healthy People

In an article released by Sun Sentinel, researchers are finding that gum health is a strong indicator of overall health and vitality. In fact, periodontal disease (infection of the gums) can cause a spread of bacteria possibly leading to heart or kidney disease. They also found that it can also serve as a “red flag” of pre-existing diseases.

What are the two best ways to maintain healthy gums and teeth? Maintaining a balanced diet and developing good oral hygiene habits are proven techniques. Sun Sentinel suggests choosing foods that have omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, and taking in plenty of calcium. In terms of oral hygiene, it is important to visit your dentist for regular cleanings every six months, brush your twice a day, and floss once a day.

Having previously served as a dentist in the US Army Dental Corps, Dr. Bruner works hard to ensure that every patient is educated and encouraged to have excellent oral hygiene. Big Thank You from Rosa Parks Elemantary!

Last week, Dr. Bruner paid an exciting visit to Rosa Parks elementary to teach on oral hygiene! At Bruner Orthodontics, we like to have fun and to teach the children of our community about healthy habits for life. Everyone had a great time, and the kids most enjoyed seeing a couple of their peers in doctor masks and gloves! Our office just received a beautiful thank you note from the students, and we just wanted to say thank you in return!!

Dr. Bruner visits many schools throughout the year so keep your eye out, yours could be next!
