Dr. Helgen has had extensive training making her an expert in her specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. She provides comprehensive orthodontic care with braces and invisalign and loves treating patients of all ages.

Dr. Helgen was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and graduated from Bellevue High School. An avid Husky fan since birth, she attended the University of Washington, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She then decided to pursue her dental education on the East Coast, attending the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry, in Philadelphia. With a passion for orthodontics from an early age, Dr. Helgen was thrilled to be selected for specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned her Certificate in Orthodontics.

Dr. Helgen has always enjoyed giving back to the community. During dental school, she planned several blood drives, health fairs, and multiple fundraisers for various charities. She also regularly provided dental screenings and oral health education for homeless women and children in the Philadelphia area throughout dental school and her orthodontic residency.

Dr. Helgen is passionate about orthodontics and is committed to providing the best care possible for her patients. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Washington State Dental Association, Washington State Society of Orthodontists, and the Seattle King County Dental Society. Dr. Helgen is actively involved in continuing education. Dr. Lindsey Helgen and Dr. Matthew Bruner work together to diagnose and treat all of their patients. In this way they have double the diagnosing expertise, more available chair time for their patients, and can provide outstanding care for all of their patients at every appointment.

When Dr. Helgen is not delivering smiles at Bruner Orthodontics or Duvall Orthodontics she enjoys traveling, skiing, running, and spending time with her fiance Steve and her family.

If your child is participating sports, especially sports where the potential to be hit by a ball or another player is present, a mouthguard should be considered a necessary piece of equipment. According to the American Dental Association, about 10 to 20% of all sports-related injuries involve the mouth or face. We like to help our patients avoid injury whenever possible. One of our mission statements here at Bruner Orthodontics is to build lasting relationships with our patients and their families. We integrated this into our event by creating some fun contests for our patients to participate in. One of the contests involved our photo booth that we had set up outside of the theater. We asked kids to use some of our fun props, go into the photo booth and take the best photo they possibly could and post that onto our Facebook wall. The picture with the most likes was the winner of the first ipad! Below is the winning picture:

Our second contest involved posting something fun on our Facebook wall about movie day for all to see! Dr. Bruner randomly selected that winner and boy was he excited!!

Dr. Bruner and the team at Bruner Orthodontics value working with our local dental professionals. Our annual lecture was packed with the best dental hygienists  that are providing the best care to their patients and constantly trying to learn more about dentistry. Dr. Matt Bruner and Dr. Lindsey Helgen lectured on the evolution of orthodontics for quality results and compared contemporary practices using the Damon System and Invisalign. Esteemed members of the Bruner Orthodontic Team and the Duvall Orthodontic Team were present too. We had a wonderful evening of camaraderie, good fun and great continuing education. The venue was at Matt’s Rotisserie in Redmond and the turn out was excellent! Thank you all for your feedback and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!

HOT SHOT CONTEST

All of our hot shot winners have been practicing their basketball skills over the past few weeks. They all will be coming back into our office next week for our final shoot out and the winner will get an ipad mini! These contestants made it into this contest by being great patients which entails: coming on time to appointments, wearing elastics, good oral hygience etc. When they came in for their appointments over the past few months, they got to take a shot on our Bruner hoop and now all those winners are coming back to show off their skills! MOTHER’S DAY CONTEST

Mother’s Day is right around the corner. All of our patients are going to be writing a nice post card to their mom’s and we will be decorating our walls with those sweet words and bright colors. We also will be randomly selecting a winner and that winner will receive dinner and a movie for two!

What: This contest is a chance for each patient to have fun and win movie tickets and an iPad mini!

Why: Dr. Matt Bruner and Dr. Lindsey Helgen feel strongly that our patients should love coming to our office. As a team we work to make sure that our patients get educated and motivated to do the things they need to do to achieve great orthodontic results. The main things to get great results in a short time are keeping your teeth clean, being careful to avoid breaking any of your braces, coming to your appointment on time, and wearing your elastics as prescribed. Dr. Bruner has been providing high caliber comprehensive orthodontic care since 2002. He attended Loma Linda University where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1998.  After serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as a general dentist and flight surgeon for the 25^th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Dr. Bruner left general dentistry in order to become a specialist in orthodontics.  Dr. Bruner graduated with his Masters Degree and specialty certificate in orthodontics from the University of Louisville.  After completing his last tour of duty where he served as the Chief of Orthodontics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, Major Bruner and his family returned home to Redmond, Washington.

In July of 2007, Dr. Bruner purchased the orthodontic practice of Dr. Stanley Gile, who happened to be Dr. Bruner’s childhood orthodontist.  The practice remains singularly focused on providing outstanding, compassionate care in a fun and family friendly environment.  The office is committed to using the latest, most technologically advanced and efficient treatment materials available today to make your treatment as fast and comfortable as possible.

Dr. Bruner is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, the Hawaiian Society of Orthodontists and the Washington State Society of Orthodontists.  Dr. Bruner also served as a member of the recognized cleft lip and palate team in Hawaii and as a mentor in two ADA accredited residency training programs.

Dr. Bruner’s commitment to providing his patients with the most outstanding care available is evidenced by the fact that he has earned his board certification in orthodontics. This means that his skills are recognized by a board of his peers, making him a Diplomate, by the American Board of Orthodontics.

Dr. Bruner and his wife Kathryn have been married for 19 years.  They have three kids, Chaz, Hannah and Malia and enjoy living in Redmond. Dr. Bruner is actively involved in his church, coach’s baseball, loves sports and music and enjoys spending time with his family.  He is also passionate about orthodontics and loves to take care of his patients.

Rubber bands are a critical part of your treatment, and wearing them as Dr. Bruner and our team recommend will help move your teeth into the desired position and give you that amazing smile! Dr. Bruner may ask you to wear your rubber bands full time, meaning that they should only be taken out when you brush and floss your teeth three times a day or when you are eating. Other times, you may be asked to only wear them part-time, like only during the day or only during sleep. Wearing your rubber bands as prescribed is definitely important during your treatment and it can even help reduce the time you have your braces. Our goal is to give you that smile that you want and deserve!
