Patient Spotlight: Everett Boker – Scholar Athlete

At Bruner Orthodontics my staff and I work hard to build relationships with our patients. I am constantly impressed with caliber of people we have the good fortune to take care of. I want to shine the spotlight of some of our truly amazing patients.

Everett Boker, is one of those amazing people. Everett is a straight ‘A’ student who is humble, good-natured, and respectful. When he is not on his skateboard you can find him wrestling for Redmond Junior High.

Last year I asked Everett if we was a good wrestler. He answered simply, “No.” Everett thought about not wrestling this year. Then when the season came around he decided to wrestle. This year I am pleased to say that Everett is 9-0 with 1 more wrestling match remaining.  My staff interviewed Everett about his success and he said, “Last year I totally sucked and lost all my matches.  This year I stuck to it and am winning every one.”

When asked about the changes he made to improve this season, he spoke about the three things that made a difference for him.  First, he started diligently lifting weights to gain strength.  Second, his coaches have taught him a lot about wrestling. He has used these new techniques to help him defeat his opponents.  Third and finally, he does his homework before each match.  He sizes up the competition prior to the match and looks for their weaknesses.  “There is a huge mental aspect in becoming a better wrestler,” says Boker.

We asked Everett’s parents to comment on Everett’s success and they said: “We are proud of your strength and perseverance to stick with an activity and learn the techniques.”

Everett, all of us at Bruner Orthodontics salute you and congratulate you on all your successes on and off the mat this year.  Keep up the good work. We’ll try to give you the smile a champion deserves!
